351st Bomb Group / 510th Bomb Squadron

While in route to Deenethorpe the 401st Bombardment Group was delayed first due to bad weather and second by the fact that the facilities at Deenethorpe were not quite ready to receive them. The Group was then sent to Polebrook Airfield, England to wait.
The flight crews at Polebrook had been active for several months and had lost many men and were short on replacements. There was also several crews who had completed their required number of missions and were due to be replaced. Thirty-four flight crews were then transferred from the 401st into the 351st.
Eight of those flight crews were from the 613th that had trained in Cut Bank and were transferred into the 510th Bomb Squadron of the 351st Bomb Group.
